Review by a Growth Engineer

My verdict: the third player among AI assistants, with its own personality.

Gemini may not be the best in pure reasoning, but its different creative style, image generation, and Google integration make it a valuable complement. I use it specifically for its smooth UI, image generation, and creative writing.

It has a different 'touch', sometimes more literary. And the integration with the Google ecosystem (Docs/Gmail) is a big plus. It's my essential third player.

What I like less: on complex logical reasoning, Gemini is sometimes behind Claude or GPT-4. Hallucinations are occasional but present. And for code or technical tasks, it's not my first choice.

My advice: use Gemini as a complement to Claude or ChatGPT, not as a replacement. Its creative style and image generation justify having it in your stack. If you're full Google Workspace, native integration is a game-changer.

Why add it to your stack?

My third AI assistant, used specifically for its different creative style, image generation, and integration with the Google ecosystem. When Claude or ChatGPT give responses that are too 'corporate', Gemini brings a more literary touch. And inline image generation is a real time saver.

What you can do with it

  • 1Create visuals directly in the conversation, without going to Midjourney or DALL-E
  • 2Vary writing styles with a more 'literary' touch than ChatGPT
  • 3Use Gemini directly in Gmail, Docs and Drive to analyze and write
  • 4Analyze PDF documents or images directly in the conversation

What it does

  • Built-in image generation
  • Writing with a more literary style
  • Native Google Docs, Gmail, Drive integration
  • Document and image analysis
  • Very large context window

The detailed verdict

Do I really need this?

It's not my main AI (Claude for reasoning, ChatGPT for versatility), but it's a valuable complement for certain specific use cases. The third player in my AI stack.

Does it play nice with my stack?

This is Gemini's strength: perfect integration with Docs, Gmail, Drive, Meet. If you're in the Google ecosystem, it's a huge advantage vs ChatGPT or Claude which require copy-paste.

Is it easy to pick up?

Intuitive interface, nothing to configure. If you have a Google account, you're operational in 2 seconds. Onboarding is instant.

Is the UX any good?

The interface is ultra-clean, typical of Google. Inline image generation is smooth, no need to leave the conversation. Integration with Google apps is native and well thought out.

Is it worth it?

The free plan is generous for occasional use. Gemini Advanced at 22€/month includes Google One 2TB, making it an attractive offer if you need cloud storage. The bundle is smart.

What I like

  • Excellent for image generation directly in the conversation
  • Ideal for creative writing with a more literary style
  • Perfect for Google ecosystem users like Docs and Gmail

What I like less

  • Sometimes behind Claude or GPT-4 on complex logical reasoning
  • Less performant for code and technical tasks
  • Occasional hallucinations can be problematic if you need maximum reliability
