Buffer

The veteran of social media scheduling, still relevant for multi-platform planning. Clean interface with affordable pricing starting at $6/month per channel. Basic done well for solopreneurs and small teams.

Review by a Growth Engineer

My verdict: basic scheduling, nothing more.

Buffer does multi-network scheduling. Period. The interface is clean, pricing is honest, but don't expect anything more than post scheduling.

What I like less: no AI, no serious analytics, no content suggestions. In 2024, that's limited. Specialized tools like Taplio (LinkedIn) or Tweet Hunter (X) offer much more value for growth.

My advice: acceptable if you just want to schedule posts on multiple networks without overthinking. But if you're looking to really develop your presence on a specific network, dedicated tools are better.

Why add it to your stack?

Buffer is the obvious choice for teams who just want to schedule content without complicating their lives. No AI, no complex features - just multi-platform scheduling that works.

The free plan is generous to test, and pricing per channel at $6/month remains very affordable. For solopreneurs or small teams who post regularly on multiple networks, it's the right effort/result ratio.

What you can do with it

  • 1Schedule a week of LinkedIn, X, and Instagram posts in one session
  • 2Maintain regular presence on multiple networks with the publishing queue
  • 3Collaborate with a freelancer or team on the social calendar
  • 4Schedule recurring posts (weekly tips, Monday quotes)
  • 5Track basic performance of your posts by platform

What it does

  • Multi-platform scheduling (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest)
  • Publishing queue with recurring slots
  • Basic analytics per platform
  • Team collaboration (Team plans)
  • Browser extension and mobile app
  • Customizable link-in-bio

How much?

Starting at Free

Generous free plan (3 channels, 10 scheduled posts). Essentials at $6/month per channel. Team at $12/month per channel with collaboration. Simple and transparent pricing.

The detailed verdict

Do I really need this?

Not indispensable at all. You can use each platform's native schedulers for free, or choose from dozens of alternatives. Buffer doesn't do anything unique - it just does basic cleanly.

Does it play nice with my stack?

Basic integrations: connection to major networks and Zapier/Make. No advanced integration with CRMs or marketing tools. If you want to centralize your marketing, Buffer isn't made for that.

Is it easy to pick up?

Immediate to get started, 5 minutes to schedule your first post. The mobile app is handy. It's the tool you can give to anyone without training. Simple but limited.

Is the UX any good?

The interface is simple and clean, that's Buffer's historical strong point. No learning curve. But this simplicity has a downside: you quickly lack advanced features. No AI, no serious analytics, no content suggestions.

Is it worth it?

The free plan (3 channels, 10 posts) is generous for testing. At $6/month per channel, it's competitive against Hootsuite. But watch out: it climbs quickly if you manage multiple networks. For 5 channels, you're already at $30/month for very basic features.

What I like

  • Simple multi-platform planning for solopreneurs and small teams
  • Tight budgets looking for efficient scheduling without frills
  • Teams that want an intuitive interface without learning curve

What I like less

  • AI content generation since there's no native AI integrated
  • Advanced analytics with detailed metrics and advanced tracking
  • Focus on a single platform where Tweet Hunter or Taplio are better
