My verdict: French Open Data with a beautiful UX.

Pappers makes French legal data accessible without tinkering. Practical, but you pay for comfort. It's very good, but with a bit of tinkering, you can retrieve most of the data via Open Data directly and for free. So it's cool if you don't want to bother. However, it's still expensive for repackaged Open Data if you have the technical skills.

What I like less: the pricing for repackaged Open Data is the main pain point. If you know how to use the SIRENE API or data.gouv.fr, you can have the same data for free. And it's limited to the French market, no international data.

My advice: use the free version for occasional searches. If you have regular enrichment needs and don't have the time or skills for Open Data, the pricing can be justified. Otherwise, learn to use the SIRENE API directly.

The detailed verdict

Do I really need this?

For the French B2B market, it's practical but not indispensable. If you have some technical skills, you can get the same data for free via the SIRENE API.

Does it play nice with my stack?

API available for automatic enrichment. Integrates correctly into workflows. However, the documentation could be more complete for advanced use cases.

Is it easy to pick up?

Ultra simple. You search, you find. No learning curve, it's really accessible to everyone.

Is the UX any good?

The interface is excellent and modern. Fast search, clear results. It's clearly their strong point that partly justifies the price.

Is it worth it?

It's Open Data packaged with a beautiful UX. The price is frankly high for those who know how to get the source for free. You're essentially paying for comfort and time savings.
